Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Bernese Mountain Dog is a purebred dog, recognized by the American Kennel Club. Bernese Mountain Dogs have a signature tri-color, flat coat that does shed. The Bernedoodle is a hybrid of a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog and Standard Poodle or another Bernedoodle. Bernedoodles come in a variety of colors such as Black Tri, Bi-Black, and Sable. Standard Bernedoodles generally range from 23-25 inches at the shoulder and can weigh between 50-60+ pounds.

  • All of our parent dogs undergo OFA hip evaluations and comprehensive genetic screening through Embark to ensure they are clear of inherited conditions relevant to the breed. Health testing is a foundational part of our breeding program and allows us to make responsible, informed pairing decisions that support long-term wellbeing.

  • We primarily breed F1 and F1 Reverse Bernedoodles, thoughtfully pairing Bernese Mountain Dogs and F1 Bernedoodles or Poodles to prioritize structure, temperament, and health. Our F1 Reverse puppies are typically 75% Bernese Mountain Dog and 25% Poodle. In the coming years, we plan to introduce carefully developed multi-generational Bernedoodles as our program continues to grow.

  • We breed both Standard and Mini Bernedoodles. Standard Bernedoodles typically mature between 60–75+ pounds, while Mini Bernedoodles are generally in the 30–40 pound range when fully grown. Size can vary slightly depending on the specific pairing, and we’re happy to discuss expectations for each litter.

  • Bernedoodles are often considered low- to moderate-shedding, but shedding can vary depending on coat type and generation. Puppies with more Poodle influence and furnished coats typically shed very minimally, while those with more Bernese influence may shed slightly more. While no dog is completely non-shedding or fully hypoallergenic, many families find Bernedoodles to be a good fit for homes seeking reduced shedding. We’re happy to discuss coat types and what to expect from each specific litter.

  • Bernedoodles are known for their affectionate, loyal nature and strong desire to be close to their people. Our puppies are bred for stable, even temperaments, balancing the calm, steady disposition of the Bernese Mountain Dog with the intelligence and trainability of the Poodle. Families often describe them as adaptable, gentle, and deeply bonded companions.

  • Yes! Our puppies are socialized in our home and on our ranch with our children and other dogs. They make wonderful companions for your family!

  • We are located 45 minutes from Kansas City International Airport. If you are unable to travel to our ranch to pick up your puppy, we offer hand delivery via our flight nanny all throughout the United States. Prices vary depending on your location and the time of year. Our flight nanny brings your puppy on the plane as a carry-on (being cared for the entire time) and will meet you at your nearest airport with your puppy. At this time, we are unable to ship puppies without proper supervision (their nanny!).

  • We always post puppies we have available on our website. It is best to plan well in advance and get on our wait list if you are serious about getting a puppy from Over North Ranch. Fill out our waiting list application if we do not have puppies available. We regularly update our upcoming litters page and post frequently on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Email us to learn more about our upcoming litters.

  • When you fill out an application to join our waiting list, you will be the first to know when we have available puppies and will gain exclusive access to updates on upcoming litters. When you join the waitlist, you will provide us with your puppy preferences (gender, coloring, etc.) so that we know exactly what you’re waiting for! Even if we do not have a puppy that meets your preferences, you can stay on our waiting list as long as you want.

  • Yes. We believe placing a puppy is about long-term fit, not just availability. Families complete an application and have a conversation with us so we can ensure the right match for both the puppy and the home. Our goal is lifelong success for our dogs and their families.

  • We live on a working ranch, so life is very busy! We currently only allow visits from those on our waiting list who are coming on scheduled visitation days to pick out or pick up their new puppy. Feel free to email or text for more information or pictures if you’re trying to decide if we are the right breeder for you!
