Bernedoodle

The Bernedoodle is a mix between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle.

Bernedoodles combine the gentle, loyal temperament of the Bernese Mountain Dog with the intelligence and athleticism of the Poodle, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being affectionate, adaptable, and eager to please, which makes them highly trainable. Many families also appreciate their expressive personalities and the potential for lower-shedding coats.

  • Height: 20-25”

Weight: 30-70 lbs (dependent on parents’ weights)

  • 10-15 years; We breed dogs with only the very best genetics and dispositions.

  • Bernedoodles come in a variety colors such as Tricolor (appearing more like a Bernese Mountain Dog), bicolor (example: black and white) or phantom (a dog that has one main color, and then has 'tips' of another color).

  • Bernedoodles can have a straight, wavy, or curly coat dependent on their parents. Most Bernedoodles tend to shed very little if any at all (straighter coats can be prone to more shedding). Their coats require frequent brushing when grown out, and are fairly easy to maintain when trimmed. A Bernedoodle's coat is different than a double coated dog (like a Bernese Mountain Dog) and can be shaved without damaging the hair. Daily brushing with professional grooming every 6-8 weeks is recommended to avoid tangles and matting.

  • Bernedoodles are a happy-go-lucky breed and are loyal and laid back. They are gentle giants who generally do great with kids of all ages. They are social and love being around their humans. Bernedoodles generally require daily walks and exercise and require more mental stimulation than Benese Mountain Dogs.

  • Bernedoodles are eager to please and highly intelligent. Taining must be done with rewards, firmness, patience and consistency. Basic training should start as soon as you take your Bernedoodle puppy home.

“Furnished” versus “Unfurnished” Coats

FURNISHED puppies have the classic “doodle look.” They typically have longer facial hair including eyebrows, a beard, and a softer, fluffier coat. Furnished coats are often wavy to curly and may shed less, though grooming is required to prevent matting.

UNFURNISHED puppies have a smoother face without the pronounced beard and eyebrows. Their coats are usually straighter or lightly wavy and may resemble a traditional Bernese Mountain Dog coat. These coats can shed more and generally require less intensive grooming than furnished coats.
